Explicit Instruction
Subtitle

The micro skills of sports psychology are taught explicitly by our sports psychology practitioners in 30-45 minute whole-group workshops, throughout the school day or evenings, weekends and school holidays at a club.

The workshops are designed to be needs-led and learner-centred, focuses on tailoring content to the specific needs of the children or young people.

Through our breakdown of objectives into three small and achievable targets, the young players develop immediately and witness their progression through the levels, learning trigger words to maximise the connection to the micro-skill and secure its learning.

2.Subject Information
3.Flashcards

To maximise the impact on children’s mind and behaviour
through the sports psychology skills that have been learnt, it is vital that
opportunities are given to the children and young people to demonstrate what they have learnt and receive praise and recognition.

Micro-skills
Subtitle

Micro-skills are small, specific, and foundational abilities or techniques that contribute to competence in a broader task or skill area. These are the building blocks of more complex skills and are often taught or practiced in isolation to enhance overall performance.

Key Characteristics of Micro-Skills:

Specific and Focused: Each micro-skill targets a particular aspect of a larger skill set.

Learnable and Measurable: They can be clearly defined, practiced, and assessed.

Transferable: Proficiency in micro-skills can often enhance performance across various contexts and settings.

Cumulative: Mastery of multiple micro-skills often leads to competence in a larger skill area.
