I’m Charlotte and I am a Trainee Sport and Exercise Psychologist currently undergoing my Stage 2 training through the Professional Doctorate at LJMU. I have built up my knowledge of psychology through an integrated Health and Clinical Psychology Master’s degree from the University of Liverpool and a Sport Psychology Master’s degree from LJMU. I also hold a Mental Health First Aider accreditation through MHFA England.
I have a passion for females in sport and my research has looked at the transition of athlete-motherhood in professional sport as well as the talent developmental pathways of professional women’s footballers. My current doctoral research involves investigating female thriving in sport.
My experience to date covers a wide range of sport, undertaking roles as a performance psychologist at Chester Netball and in my current role as the Girls Academy Psychologist at Lancashire County Cricket Club. I have also extensively worked in Esports, working with Mastering the Mind Consultancy and with Lionscreed and Verdant Esports teams.
A large part of what drives my motivation for sports psychology is through the provision of education. I take a life skills approach to providing young athletes with the psychological tools to not only improve their sports performance and support their well-being, but also to further their growth as they progress through key developmental stages.
