I am a Professional Doctorate student in Sport and Exercise Psychology. I study how athletes can improve their mental health, stay calm under pressure, and manage their feelings and actions. As a trainee Sport and Exercise Psychologist under the HCPC pathway, I focus on teaching tools and strategies that help people do their best in sports. During my Master’s degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology, I learned about methods like the “5Cs” (Confidence, Commitment, Control, Communication, Concentration) and use them to guide children on how to handle emotions, keep going when things are tough, and communicate well with teammates and coaches.
I work with different sports teams and events, including the British Transplant Games and the University of Portsmouth Basketball teams. In these roles, I run workshops that show young athletes how to manage strong feelings, build healthy habits, and deal with high-pressure moments. Teaching skills like emotional regulation and learning to handle stress and excitement without getting overwhelmed helps them stay focused and motivated. I also adapt training sessions so that they learn to control their actions, stay disciplined, and keep a positive attitude, especially when facing challenges.
